I use extra intensity lamp bulbs that Halfords sell which are an improvement on the standard bulbs, however the lugs have to be modified to fit the holders usually.

I've been round the dipped headlamp replacement loop and can confirm that the advice in the Light Thing Editorial is correct. My old bulbs were marked PIAA 900X.PW 12V 55W: 9005 bulbs fit well with the vanes next to the power pins being removed by chisel/file. 9006 bulbs can be made to fit by filing down the diameter of the barrel, but it's much easier to fit 9005s. I fitted PIAA Night Tech, but in retrospect should have gone for the more expensive Extreme White Plus.

after all this time i have finally fitted some hids and wow what a difference wish i had done this sooner , i did only purchase some ebay cheap ones just to see what they would be like so if cheap ones are this good might invest in some better quality ones as and when these fail
