I had to pop down to motor hog last week, so inquired about the situation of my crashed soarer, I was told some pieces had been striped off / out of it and it had been crushed, felt a little sad it was a bit like having to have a dog put down,so that's another V8 gone to the big garage in the sky. Sad

I was given the impression that the crush instruction came from the insurance company, which is a bit strange as I would have thought getting some money out of it is better than having just a cube of steel.

Took the GS430 out in the snow over the last couple of days and was impressed with how well it behaved, on the worst parts of the roads I was traveling I tried out the "snow" button which appeared to subdue the amount of revs available either from or to the transmission so no fierce acceleration appeared to happen, its something I will have to read up on, I have been told that it starts the car off in second but as I was already moving I wouldn't know but I think it goes a lot further than that.

Well I know its not a Soarer but the GS is due for a drive belt change along with an air and oil/filter change, the old girl is showing 99,097 miles on the clock and not being a non interference engine like the soarer I can't take the chance of a broken belt. All the parts and fluids are present and hopefully it will be done next week. Still driving like a dream and the kickdown still brings a smile to my face when taking off or overtaking.

Hi Mike,
Nice to see a LSOC member and a few others I reconise.I have been away from both sites for so long.
I will keep my "Avater" up and running for a while so that older members may remember me.

I still have the 2.5TT manual but that has been neglected for personal reasons, and is off road but I am starting to get an interest back to restore to her formal glory.

I have moved into a different direction meantime which I have to laugh with your previous comments.

I have never gone with the flow.

I have gone for a SC430 that I love.

Not every one will like it ,but so what, I do.

Take care

Dave

Hi Mike, I think my timing belt on my GS430 will probably need to be replaced soon... while it's being done, are there any other parts / items that ought to be replaced at the same time to save future costs? Eg, on the soarer, it was common (IIRC) to replace the water pump when doing the timing belt.. Cheers. Steve
