This fault can be caused by water washing crud into the crack sensor.

I pinpointed wich pin did what
Then got a tool to remove pins from plug and put them back in the right place
Now the plugs are a perfect fit with no cutting or adding of any wireing
Didnt take that long about an hour or so . Once 1 seat was done other 1 is simple
Another option for you
1) Power steering at low speeds (0-10mph) doesn't seem to be as effective as it usually is. I have checked tyre pressure and power steering fluid level.

3) The exclamation warning light is coming on [very] intermittently, which I know to be lower brake fluid level, but I've mentioned it in case it is related to 1) or 2).

Your no 2 problem sounds like a distinctive damp ingress problem my suggestion while not a permanent cure to this is spray some WD-40 on the coils best to remove them first and give them a clean while your there also wipe off any excess WD as its flammable have fun

OK 1/ is fixed (kind of) - tyre pressure had gone down between checking it and driving again. May have (another) slow puncture.
2/ ok - will look into this tonight.

Hi All,
Had an issue with the new car with lock nuts where there was no locknut socket to remove them. Spoke to the guys at the local tyre shop and they said to use a smaller than standard socket(if your wheel nuts are 19mm then use an 18mm socket on the lock nut) and hammer it on to the nut, then loosen the lock nut. use an extension bar when hammering the socket onto the nut so you won't hit the wheel in error and swear. Crack the socket sideways before the wheelnut is off completely so socket and wheelnut seperates easely.

No Worries at all Craig. Changed the timing belt using the instructions off the net, how easy was that? 3.5 hours and ferreted around cleaning and checking things out as well( used a Gates belt $100.00 au). The harmonic balancer looks to be in good condition without any apparent faults. Have had the sugestion that an engine mount could have had the Richard. So will check that out next.

Thank you to all forum contributors as I have learned a lot about the car and have used the info to pull bits apart just by reading your forum pages.

1/ the system may need bleeding, run the engine at tickover turn steering lock to lock about 20 times and see if there are any bubbles on top of the fluid in the reservoir if there is repeat untill all bubbles cease.

2/ this could be caused by a/some plug leads breaking down run the car with the bonnet up in the dark and see if you have any arcing (blue flashing sparks) if not then you need to check the leads themselves,or in the case of a tt check the coil packs that are associated with each plug, alternatively it could be the fuel pump playing up the tests for which can found by doing a search.

thses are my initial thoughts.

Thanks for the information all. It has been enlightening. The only thing is that i dont really know where to go now. One thing is certain, that i need to get a full wheel alignment. BUT im not sure whether to stay with the 18s, and put narrower tyres on (perhaps something with a more comfort orientated characteristic), or to get some smaller wheels (original 15" or 16"). Surely i need to make this decision before i get the wheel alignment done, and at approx £100 a time, i dont want to have to do it numerous times.
